🌏 Discover Uzbekistan: The Silk Road’s Best-Kept Secret Ready to Welcome You! 🌟

Lois and I just returned from a familiarization trip to Uzbekistan. To summarize our experience in a few words, we were blown away.  For those of you interested in exploring something new and completely different, this is for you.  Uzbekistan has been discovered and is on the cusp of breaking out as a major destination for world travelers.  We did not know what to expect so went in with an open mind.  On the ancient Silk Road, Uzbekistan does not disappoint.  Dating back centuries, the major cities of Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent were once thriving major cities along the Silk Road, with magnificent ancient, blue tiled mosques, madrasas and caravan serais. Every turn is a new photograph waiting to be taken.  We found the country clean, safe and extremely friendly.  The Uzbek people, a mixture of many cultures, were very curious who we were and openly friendly.  The food was excellent.  We had several meals in the homes of locals and more in restaurants.  All was good.  The hotels range from excellent boutiques to five-star modern.  The roads could be better, but starting in 2026, there will be high-speed train service from Khiva all the way to Tashkent.  It is currently available from Bukhara to Tashkent, to this addition allows travelers to use the high-speed train to and from all major cities.  The best part is that travelling there is easy on the budget.  I’m sure that will change over the next several years as travel explodes, so the next three to five years is the time to go.  We went from early to mid-November and the weather was excellent.  It was quite cool in the morning, but by mid-day we had stripped down.  Layering is the trick.  We were told, that even now, the summer is very hot and there are periods when there are lots of European travelers.  One word of caution.  There is a lot of walking involved so you need to be in decent shape.  Here is more:
